Join Arts Alive! Summer Theatre Camp Fun!

Summer is right around the corner and we are gearing up for some fun & fantastic performance camps! Scroll down to see the exciting line-up for each week of camp.

Session 1: July 10-14: Mamma Mia! Release your inner Dancing Queen with scenes and music from the smash Broadway hit, based on the songs of ABBA.

Session 2: July 17-21: The Adams Family This creepy, spooky, weird and wonderful family comes to devilishly delightful life in selections from the musical.

Session 3: July 24-28: Disney Villains Join us for a mega celebration of some of Disney’s most dastardly villains. This will be a wicked week full of sinister surprises!

Session 4: July 31-Aug. 4: History & Theatre History has its eyes on you! We will explore how history is represented in theatre with excerpts from Hamilton and Les Miserables.

Session 5: August 7 -11, 2017: Harry Potter Enter the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardy, get sorted, and begin your studies of magical arts! This camp will explore the wizarding world of Harry Potter through group exercises, character development, and scene work. (This session will take place at Michelle Lavin Music, 286 Maple Ave, Barrington.)

NEW! Session 6: August 14-18: Real Life Audition Prep Are you thinking about auditioning for a play or musical at a local theater this year? Throughout this camp, led by Max Littman, we will explore different audition techniques, learn how to properly prepare for an audition, how to present yourself, and how to choose appropriate repertoire. 1/2 day sessions, 9am-12pm; Grades 7-12 only. (This session will take place at Michelle Lavin Music, 286 Maple Ave, Barrington.)

NEW! Session 7: August 21-25: Brush Up Your Musical Theater Chops Led by Michelle Lavin, this camp is designed for the musical theater enthusiast who is looking to brush up on vocal technique and song expression. Topics that will be explored throughout the week are proper breathing and support, pronunciation, projection, vocal health, basic anatomy of the voice, head and chest voice exploration, and acting while singing. Students will be grouped as follows: grades 2+3, grades 4+5, grades 6-8. Participants will choose two musical theater pieces of contrasting emotion, research their characters, apply the vocal techniques learned in camp, and perform them at the end of the week. (This session will take place at Michelle Lavin Music, 286 Maple Ave, Barrington.)

 Monday-Friday*, 9am-3pm
Ages 8-14**
St. John’s Episcopal Church or Michelle Lavin Music, Barrington
$260 per week

The Arts Alive! professional staff and experienced high school and college counselors (all Theatre majors!) will lead kids through games, improv, stage makeup, dance, creative movement, voice, mask making, stage combat and theatre craft & design!

This is a chance for kids to work on their individual performance skills in a fun, safe, supportive, encouraging environment! Crazy themed days, popsicles and a lot of laughs provided.

*An informal performance will be held on Friday of each week for family and friends. Does not apply to Session 6: Real Life Audition Prep.
**7 year olds who have participated in an Arts Alive! school play program may also register! 

Scholarships:

If you wish to apply for a scholarship, please download and complete a Scholarship Application Form and email to admin@artsalivebarrington.org or by mail to Arts Alive, PO Box 678, Barrington, RI 02806

All scholarship applications will be reviewed and processed confidentially. Applications will be reviewed on a first-come, first-serve basis. The deadline to receive scholarship applications is Friday, May 26, 2017No applications will be considered after this date.

Refund Policy:

While we are confident that your experience with Arts Alive summer camp will be a positive one, we have outlined our refund policy below. All refund requests must be made in writing and submitted to admin@artsalivebarrington.org.

If a registered student decides not to participate in summer camp:
· A full refund, minus a $30 processing fee will be given if the student withdraws, more than 72 hours prior to the start of camp
· A 50% refund will be given for withdrawal within 72 hours of the start of camp. However, should we be able to fill the vacant spot with a wait listed student, a full refund minus a $30 process will be given.
· No refunds will be given once camp has begun.

Camp Counselors and Interns

The application for summer counselors and interns can be downloaded here. All students entering 9th grade and older are eligible to apply. There are a limited number of positions available. Counselors receive a small weekly stipend. All intern positions are non-paid.
